Title: The Girl Who Owned a City, the Graphic Novel
Author: O. T. Nelson

A deadly virus has spread across the world killing everyone over the age of 12 and leaving behind thousands of children to fend for themselves. Many die of thirst and starvation, or are killed by the gangs of children that now roam the streets and take everything for themselves. Lisa is a strong-willed, independent young girl that takes it upon herself to protect her younger brother Todd and the other children on her street, using her tact and brains to find food, clothing, and first-aid. However, it isn't long before a few of the gangs discover what she has and want to take it from her. Lisa wants to find a place where she and the children of her street can live and thrive without the threat of gangs, a stronghold that they can defend and use to their advantage. What she finds is an old abandoned school, and it doesn't take a lot of convincing to get the selected kids to move in and help out when she promises comfort and safety. Things go well, and Lisa considers taking in even more children to make something of a city, a city of her own. But one of the gangs, lead by a vengeful, greedy boy that knows Lisa from childhood, will stop at nothing to take everything away from her, even if it means mass murder. Lisa and her army of children have to defend their fort or they will face their total annihilation in this world that has become hell on earth.
I picked this book up because the art was very appealing and I had read the novel when I was younger.
I finished this book because it was pretty intense.
I'd give this book to any dystopian fan.
Rating: **** Really liked it.
